I am happy to report that I have been keeping up with writing a poem on world peace each day this month and mailing it out on a postcard to another participating poet. I used up my first batch of postcards and have had to print a second.

Mailing My First World Peace Poets’ Postcard
Block for World Peace Poets Postcard Project
I finished carving the block to make the postcards I will be sending out each day in February as a part of the World Peace Poets Postcard Project.
I will write a short poem about peace each day in February and send it out to one of the other members in my group.
I am looking forward to receiving cards back from other poets across the country.
Making your own postcard is optional.
Winter-themed Stationary
I am working on creating some wintertime stationary with a couple of snowflakes.
Mailing Our Last Christmas Cards for 2021
This is the last of over eighty Christmas cards my family has made and sent this year. My wife made the first half of them with her mother by embossing vellum. Looks like we should get an earlier start next year!

Going Green
I made a few more cards tonight. I tried green ink instead of red. I think I like the red ones the best. I used a printing baren and a wooden spoon yesterday to press the paper on the block, forgetting I had a Speedball Model B press. I found the press much more consistent and less messy.

Book Letters
I wanted to create something special for my friend Victoria Waddle’s birthday. I imagined her initials made out of open books.

I tested the block using some black ink. The first impression (bottom left) showed some of the lines in the negative space. I carved them lower to remove them from the print (top right). I created a cut-out form (upper right) to help me align the block with the paper. I ended up choosing blue ink for the final print (bottom right).

The Exclamation of the Nativity
A block print I made for Christmas about a decade ago.
